Mount Vernon Place Church
Washington, DC
This award-winning structural renovation project included the addition of
an elevator, stairs, and new mechanical room. Construction of the
elevator pit required the demolition of parts of the existing floor, wall and
wall footings, and underpinning the footings at the east wall of the church.
The construction of the mechanical room at the fourth floor involved
the addition of new posts nad steel framing above the existing third
floor space. Rehabillitation work also included structural repairs to
the building exterior, mitigating water infiltration, rehabilitation to the
existing facade updating the fire protection system and the
renovation of interior spaces.
