Washington, DC
This project was constructed in several phases around the late
1900s. It consists of wood framing supported on exterior load bearing
brick masonry walls. The rear portion of the building, which was
constructed during a 1986 renovation, was removed. Following a
comprehensive structural evaluation of the building, SK&A determined
that the building facade and load bearing walls were in need of brick
masonry repair work. A new addition was constructed, and the existing
facade was restored and new concrete decks on metal joists were
installed at the existing floor levels to replace the existing wood framing.
